My name is J. D. McDonald and I want
to cook for you!
After working for nearly twenty years
in the Food and Beverage Industry, I decided five years ago to focus all of my energy on individuals and families; to recapture
personal connections. As a self taught chef, my background includes roles as: a cook, bartender, waiter in New York, Los Angeles
and San Francisco, catering chef, corporate catering chef, and for four years, General Manager of one of San Francisco’s
best and busiest off-premise event planning and catering companies. After training at The Culinary Business Institute, I have
spent the past five years cooking for busy families all over the Bay Area. I am fully licensed and insured and a member of
the United States Personal Chef Association.
After five years in business my mission as a chef is stronger than ever:
to help people eat better food. Mass produced, genetically altered and chemical laden foods have overwhelmed the American
diet and it shows in our health. Obesity and heart disease are the new American health crisis. "The need for speed" in our
society is robbing us daily of the simple but extreme pleasure of sitting at table and enjoying a well-cooked meal as
a family.
Food should not only provide sustenance; it should connect us with the
land that we live on. It should teach us about the diverse cultures that we share the land with; it should be authentic and
well crafted. It should provide pleasure.
I look forward to meeting more of the diverse families of the San Francisco
Bay Area and to help them rediscover their dining room tables. In the process, I will hopefully learn more about food and
its role in different cultures and families.
